Shadiyar Tauyekel

My name is Shadiyar Tauyekel from Kazakhstan, a curious mind who enjoys exploring different cultures, learning languages, and meeting people from all walks of life. I am passionate about community building. I founded Quryltai.hu, a Kazakh-Hungarian Association that brings together students and professionals through cultural, academic, and networking events. I also served as a City Representative for the FLEX Program in Budapest, where I organized events and built partnerships to inspire others to study abroad and embrace global opportunities.

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?

 What caught my attention was ELTE’s long history and its vibrant international community. The mix of tradition and openness to new ideas made me feel this was the right place to grow both academically and personally.

What makes studying at ELTE so great?

The diversity of perspectives in the classroom, the approachable professors, and the opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities make studying here truly enriching. I also appreciate how ELTE encourages independent thinking and critical discussion.

WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?

 One of my main challenges was adapting to a new academic system and balancing multiple deadlines in a multicultural environment.

HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?

I developed a structured approach to time management, asked for guidance from professors when needed, and connected with fellow students to exchange tips and support each other.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?

My degree equips me with analytical skills, a deep understanding of global issues, and the ability to work in an international setting, all of which are essential for a career in diplomacy, international organizations, or global business.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?

Be open-minded, participate in campus life, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. The more you engage — both in and outside of class — the more you’ll get out of your ELTE experience.
