ELTE Explores Cooperation Opportunities with Ningbo Association for Science and Technology
On 2 December 2025, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) held an exploratory bilateral meeting with the Ningbo Association for Science and Technology (NBAST 宁波市科学技术协会) to discuss potential areas of cooperation with higher education and research institutions in Ningbo, China.

The Chinese delegation was led by Prof.Shi Ying PhD., Vice President of NBAST, and included representatives of the Ningbo Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Circles as well as district-level branches of NBAST. ELTE was represented by Prof. Jesús Reyes Núñez PhD., Vice-dean for International Affairs at the Faculty of Informatics and Ms Eszter Knyihár PhD., Head of the International Strategy Office.

The primary aim of the meeting was to explore pathways towards establishing structured and sustainable cooperation between ELTE and partner institutions in Ningbo, with the coordination and support of NBAST. During the discussions, both sides presented their institutional profiles and strategic priorities in international cooperation.

NBAST introduced its role in supporting collaboration between international universities and higher education institutions in Ningbo, highlighting its commitment to facilitating academic, scientific and innovation-oriented partnerships. ELTE, in turn, presented its academic portfolio, research strengths and extensive experience in international cooperation, expressing its openness to building new partnerships with universities and research centres in Ningbo.

The participants agreed that cooperation should be developed in a gradual and targeted manner, starting with clearly defined areas of mutual interest and progressing towards more structured forms of collaboration.

It was also agreed that the Ningbo Association for Science and Technology would play a key facilitating role in identifying suitable partner institutions in Ningbo, supporting communication and coordination between the parties, and ensuring the sustainability and institutional embedding of future cooperation initiatives.

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening ELTE’s engagement with academic and research partners in Ningbo and further expanding its international cooperation in China.
