ELTE and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music Review the Future of Their Double Degree Programme
ELTE was represented by Prof. Gábor Zemplén PhD., Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Prof. Imre Hamar PhD., Rector’s Commissioner for Asian Relations, Prof. Gábor Bodnár PhD., Head of the Department of Music Culture, Ms Eszter Knyihár PhD., Head of the International Strategy Office, and Ms Tekla Gaál, Head of the International Office at the Faculty of Humanities.
The Zhejiang Conservatory of Music was represented by Prof. Gan Wudong PhD., Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Zhang Yunliang PhD., Dean of the Music Education Department, Mr Chen Chenjie, Director of the President’s Office, Prof. Ma Yanan PhD., Vice Dean of the Vocal and Opera Department, and Ms Wu Yisha, Deputy Director of the International Office .
The double degree programme between ELTE and the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music is one of ELTE’s most prominent and successfully operating joint programmes with a Chinese partner, and serves as a model for high-quality, discipline-specific cooperation between Hungarian and Chinese higher education institutions. It also reflects ELTE’s broader strategic engagement in China, encompassing institutional partnerships, joint programmes and short-term academic initiatives.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the experience gained so far and discussed the continuation of the programme in the coming academic cycles. Particular attention was devoted to the clarification and fine-tuning of academic and training requirements, with the aim of ensuring transparency, academic quality and full mutual recognition of studies on both sides.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and further developing the programme in line with evolving institutional strategies and regulatory frameworks. The meeting highlighted the shared intention to strengthen academic standards while enhancing the international attractiveness and long-term sustainability of the joint programme.
The discussions marked an important step in consolidating ELTE’s music-related cooperation with China and further expanding its portfolio of high-quality joint educational programmes with Asian partners.
