ELTE and Wuhan University Deepen Strategic Academic Cooperation

The Wuhan University delegation was led by Prof. Zhang Pingwen PhD., President of Wuhan University, Professor of Mathematics and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and included senior academic leaders from the fields of mathematics, chemistry, molecular sciences, and engineering. ELTE was represented by Prof. Imre Hamar PhD., Rector’s Commissioner for Asian Relations, and Ms Eszter Knyihár, PhD, Head of the International Strategy Office

The meeting was organised with the objective of moving beyond the formal framework of the existing MoU towards concrete and discipline-specific academic cooperation. Following a brief institutional exchange between the leadership representatives, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, discussions focused on identifying tangible cooperation opportunities.

Special attention was devoted to the development of summer schools as a flexible and effective format for initiating student-level cooperation and increasing the visibility of both institutions. Both sides expressed strong interest in jointly organising or co-hosting summer programmes in the future.

As a result of the discussions, several promising formats of cooperation were identified, including faculty-level and researcher-to-researcher partnerships, short-term academic visits, student and staff exchange programmes, and collaborative research initiatives in the highlighted academic fields

The meeting laid solid foundations for launching concrete joint initiatives and further integrating Wuhan University into ELTE’s network of strategic Chinese partners.
