ELTE and the University of Lille Explore New Paths for Strategic Cooperation
The University of Lille was represented by Prof. Sébastien Clausen PhD., Vice-President for Europe, and Mr Alexis Boulet, International Promotion Manager, while ELTE was represented by Ms Eszter Knyihár PhD., Head of the International Strategic Office.
The discussions focused on exploring cooperation opportunities beyond traditional mobility schemes, including student and staff mobility, research exchange, the establishment of double degree programmes, and the development of co-tutelle PhD supervision arrangements.
The University of Lille expressed particular interest in cooperation in the fields of archaeology, political science, law, sciences and informatics, which were identified as promising areas for future academic collaboration
Both parties presented their institutions and highlighted their strategic priorities in international cooperation, underlining the importance of building partnerships through direct academic links and faculty-level engagement. It was agreed that cooperation should be developed progressively, starting from existing strengths and moving towards more structured forms of collaboration, such as joint programmes and doctoral-level cooperation.
As agreed next steps, both institutions will introduce each other internally in order to raise awareness and facilitate engagement among faculties, departments and research units. Cooperation is expected to evolve primarily on a peer-to-peer basis, through direct contacts between corresponding academic units. ELTE will also share a list of its existing institutional cooperations in France with the University of Lille to support the identification of extended and new cooperation opportunities.
Based on emerging academic links, the partners will explore structured cooperation formats, including Erasmus mobility agreements, joint research activities, joint applications for international funding (such as Erasmus KA2 and Horizon programmes and ERC grants), double degree programmes, and PhD supervision models.
